THE LOFT SET TO RELEASE LIVE/RARITIES COLLECTION

Nashville, TN—After releasing a full-length album, a live CD and two EPs, Nashville rock band The Loft is back in the studio with Grammy winning producer Joe West (Emmylou Harris, Warren Zevon, Dropping Daylight) and planning to release a new album later this year. Meanwhile, in order to keep their fans appeased, the band and archivist Nick Graham have sifted through the recordings of over 100 shows and are releasing a live album, Best of Live & Rarities. The collection will contain some fan favorites that The Loft has not yet released from some of their fabled shows at Tiballs in Bowling Green, and Windows on the Cumberland in Nashville. In addition, there will be some studio outtakes and a few rare acoustic moments.
About The Loft:
It’s not an easy task to stand out in a crowd. But that’s what a new rock band is faced with when they form, then record and release music. There is just so much music out there and so many outlets to find it. But when you grind it out in the trenches and grow your fan base organically, you can make some headway. For The Loft, the trenches are the miles of highway they’ve been logging over the past few years. And with a retro sound that has been compared to the The Black Crowes, The Rolling Stones, and Faces, the band is not having any difficulty drawing new fans and followers.
After making tracks in Southeast markets, The Loft branched out into more states in the South, Midwest and Northeast in 2007. And when they were not touring, the band was holed up writing songs in a family owned property in Huntington, West Virginia, as well as in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and New York City. That bonding has helped the band to create 30 new songs, of which they believe is their best material to date.
Following the release of a full-length album, Soulful Southeast Exhibit, a live CD and two EPs, including the most recent Tombstone Tapes, The Loft is targeting late spring 2008 for their next full-length release. The Loft has received regional radio airplay, and was voted Best Local Roots Rock Band by Nashville station 102.9 The Buzz in 2006. They have shared the stage with Drive By Truckers and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band among others, and will hit the road again in January 2008 for a rigorous tour itinerary in advance of the new album’s release.
“….that was one of the most pure and exciting shows I have seen in years. I was terribly impressed……It was an honor to write about a band that has so much promise. If you get the chance, tell the band they played an incredible show in Baton Rouge and their name will not be forgotten.”—Jason Andreasen, Tiger Weekly
“I received The Loft CD and oh my GOD do I love it. These guys just rock!!! My only beef with it is that there are only 7 songs. I want MORE!”—Amy Burger, Playback STL

Not Just Country

There is going to be a new program on the UPN starting in March called Not Just Country, showcasing bands in the Nashville area that fall outside of the realm of country music.  Well it's about damn time someone challenged the Nashville stereotype!  What's more, we're going to be taped on January 12th to appear on this program!!  So where do you all come in?  We need your help!  We need to have a good turnout for this show as it would suck to have an empty room with the tapes rolling.  This will be an early evening, the show starts at 7:00 sharp at the Gibson Showcase in Opry Mills Mall!  We will be playing with the Verbena Court Strut Band, an amazing band of which one of its members is the creator of the Not Just Country program.  We are honored that they picked us to share the stage with them!  Cover is $5.00 , 21 and up.  Again, taping starts at 7:00 PM SHARP on thursday January 12th so if you're going to come please try to get there early.  We really need you to come out and help us, uh, rock the mall.  Okay, okay, it is a shopping mall but we can make it a rock 'n roll shopping mall!  We're not your Ann Taylor's Loft!  (sorry, had to).  Seriously though,  the Gibson Showcase is quite a nice room and it should still be a good time.  And you could be on TV!

From the Not Just Country website, www.njctv.com:

With the some of the BEST unseen talent Nashville has to offer. "Not Just Country" is calling on all music fans for audience participation. Five of the six tapings will be on Thursdays, so please check the "bands" link. We've been checking out most of the bands that will be performing. We will tell you that we are VERY glad that they are a part of our vision to uplift the music scene here in Metropolitan Nashville. We want to thank UPN's staff for seeing and being a part of our vision.

We know that while Thursdays are hard for some folks to come out to party, for others Thursday nights marks the start of the weekend. Let us send you home Thursday nights with a good feeling, allowing you to start your Friday mornings with something incredible to talk about: a good dose of "Not Just Country"! By sharing your experience about the night before will make others curious about the fun you had at a "Not Just Country" taping. So everybody, bring somebody! We had a nice crowd back in October, let's make it bigger this coming January and February our goal this round is 1000 every week.

Did I mention that 99% of the bands are on MySpace. This is a good time as well to connect with people and make new friends and contacts..

The countdown has begun for the final tapings, three in January, three in February. Kicking off with Moe Raw & Raw Group and Groove Addiction January 5, 2006.

Remember, Gibson Showcase will be a 21 and up venue starting 2006. Nashville and surrounding areas come out and support your local talent. Bands, Songwriters etc., if you are not performing shows the Friday nights we are taping, we would love to see you there. We keep hearing "We need something like this here in the city!!" Well, we need your support at the shows to make this happen also. The crowds are getting bigger each show, and the tapings are going rather smoothly. It's just $5 to get in, so bring your friends. You never know who may be in the audience. "Not Just Country" is going to be the "You Must Be There Event" to hit Nashville for the music industry. We're working on getting bigger regional and national artists to share the stage with our local acts next year as well. Here at "Not Just Country" we promise to bring you THE BEST that Nashville has to offer. On a side note, NJC will be attending the 3 rd Annual S.E.A. (Southern Entertainment Awards) in Tunica, MS January 20-22, 2006 at The Grand Casino. If you are a mixtape, hip-hop, R&B junkie, this is the MUST event for networking with over 250+ DJ's this industry has to offer. Past artists who've attended this event include Cruna, All Star, David Banner, Pastor Troy and may other just to name a few. In addition, there will be seminars with some of the biggest names in hip-hop industry. There will be workshops on "what to do" and "what not to do" in the business part of the industry.

Keep spreading the word about us. Remember, if anybody asks you about Nashville, you tell them It's "Not Just Country!!"…
